DISCUSSION TOPIC: WEB-SITE WORKSHOP

Your Task

Follow the four steps outlined below.  Come to class ready to talk in a small group for 4 or 5 minutes about the 2 documentaries and the 1 history in the news article that you selected for review.

The Purpose Of The Exercise

This exercise is designed to further familiarize you with what's available on the course web-site and to share what you find with your classmates.  I encourage you to occasionally use the supplementary resources throughout the semester as material for extra Journal entries.

Do The Following

Step 1:  Renaissance Documentaries

Watch at least half an hour of video documentary about the Renaissance drawn from Renaissance -- Early Modern Europe Video Links.  Come to class ready to describe what you watched and what you learned.

Step 2:  History In The News

Browse at random for a few minutes in Early Modern Europe In The News.  Read a few articles from different topics.  Identify one article of particular interest and come to class ready to offer a brief summary of that article.

Step 3:  Browsing In The Video And Audio Archives

Spend several minutes browsing titles in Early Modern Europe Video Links; Early Modern Europe Audio Links; and Early Modern Europe Video Links -- NIC And VIPL.  Rather than open up shows, try to get a sense of what is in the archive and what might interest you.

Step 4:  Watching A Non-Renaissance Documentary

Watch or listen to at least half an hour of video or audio documentary.  This can either be a title you identified as of potential interest in Step 3 or above or that is from the Andrew Graham-Dixon Video Page.
