The focus for this week is on the Mahabharata.

1)  We will discuss the second half of DK's Illustrated Mahabharata on Thursday, February 25.  There are several extra Mahabharata resources on-line, including a number of videos I have listed near the bottom of my Indian Civilization Video -- Mythology Page.  One good overview is provided in the 2-hour animated feature Mahabharat.  Those of you who understand Hindi may want to consider watching some episodes from the 2013 television series.  You may be able to access it in Hindi at an affordable price HERE, and I think it may also be available through Amazon Prime. Although I expect everyone to substantially engage with the Mahabharata, I am open to having you substitute several hours of video for the DK volume.

2)  Your first seminar note is due at the end of the week (February 28).  Instructions are listed on the Assignment Page.  My basic expectation for a successful seminar note is that you demonstrate that you have engaged with each of the texts.  In the case of the Mahabharata, that engagement may have come through video rather DK's Illustrated Mahabharata.  The focus of each seminar note, however, should be on your interpretation, analysis, and commentary, rather than upon a summary of the text.

3)  You are significantly behind in the course if you have not yet handed in your First-Half Note-Taking Assignment and need to check in with me about the reason for your delay.
