EASTERN AND COMPARATIVE RELIGIONS: ORIENTATION FOR WEEK 7 (February 27 - March 5)
We are reaching the half-way point of the semester. The focus for this week should be on readying your Journal-In-Progress for submission and on beginning our three-week unit on Buddhism.
Your responsibilities for the week are the following:
1) Submit your Journal-In-Progress through Blackboard at the beginning of the week as a single file (due date March 1). Hand-written assignments are acceptable but must be legible, neatly organized, and in a single file. Your Journal will not be graded at this time and you do not need to be completely up-to-date with your Journal. However, it is mandatory that you hand in your Option 1 or Option 2 Journal and I do expect to see that you have been working on this assignment throughout the first half of the semester..
2) Watch the two-hour PBS documentary "The Buddha -- The Story Of Siddhartha."
3) Begin to browse in the Buddhism: On-Line Text and familiarize yourself with the Buddhism resources that are included in the Week 8 and Week 9 course curriculum.
4) Fill out and return the survey sheet for the Other Asian Religions Workshop and review the instructions for the Comparative Religions Grid.
