TURKEY: TRAVEL TIPS
Visitors to Turkey must have a passport with at least six months validity.
Printed visas need to be carried at the point of entry into Turkey. Fees for Canadian citizens are $60 US.
We will need to figure out the visa process. That may proceed through Ottawa, though Turkey also has an on-line Electronic Visa Application System.
Muzekart: A special card will get one into museums for specific periods of time at a reduced rate. They are available for the Aegean or for all Turkey.
Most museums close one day a week, often Monday.
We should be careful not to enter a mosque during prayers. The times for prayers are displayed on a board outside or just inside the mosque.
The mobile phone market is dominated by Turkcell, Vodafone and Avea.
Turkey's electrical current is 220-240 volts AC. The plugs have two round pins, which fit most European two-pin plugs.
It is a good idea to carry toilet paper.
