TURKEY:  TRAVEL TIPS

Visitors to Turkey must have a passport with at least six months validity.

Printed visas need to be carried at the point of entry into Turkey.  Fees for Canadian citizens are $60 US.

We will need to figure out the visa process.  That may proceed through Ottawa, though Turkey also has an on-line Electronic Visa Application System.

Muzekart:  A special card will get one into museums for specific periods of time at a reduced rate.  They are available for the Aegean or for all Turkey.

Most museums close one day a week, often Monday.

We should be careful not to enter a mosque during prayers.  The times for prayers are displayed on a board outside or just inside the mosque.

The mobile phone market is dominated by Turkcell, Vodafone and Avea.

Turkey's electrical current is 220-240 volts AC.  The plugs have two round pins, which fit most European two-pin plugs.
